It is intended to provide a femoral stem (2) for an artificial hip joint which is suitable for treating femoral neck fracture with a need for the fixation of the greater trochanter and shows a strong force of fixing the greater trochanter. This femoral stem (2) comprises: a stem member (20) provided, either in an integrated state or in a separable manner, with a distal stem part (21), which is to be inserted into the marrow cavity of the femur and fixed therein, and a proximal stem part (22), which has a neck part (26) for attaching an artificial bone head and is fixed to the proximal end of the distal stem part; a plate attaching part (36) located in a detachable manner in the top of the proximal stem part as described above; and a greater trochanter plate (3) which is fixed to the plate attaching part (36) at a definite angle or in a manner allowing the adjustment of the angle and presses downward the greater trochanter (71). Since the greater trochanter plate (3) is fixed to the femoral stem (2) in the femoral stem as described above, the greater trochanter is strongly fixed and thus the fixation can be stabilized. Since the greater trochanter plate (3) is fixed to the top of the proximal stem part (22), moreover, the greater trochanter plate (3) covers the upper part of the greater trochanter (71) infixing the greater trochanter (71). Thus, the upward shift of the greater trochanter due to the middle gluteal muscle can be effectively prevented. |
