PURPOSE: A system and a method for converting of a content based DLNA system are provided to supply selected contents in a desirable reproduction terminal through dynamic contents conversion. CONSTITUTION: If a format conversion request unit(130) requests data format conversion of selected contents, a format conversion unit(230) receives from the format conversion request unit the current data format information and the format information on the data which are supposed to be converted. If the data format conversion of the contents is enabled, the format conversion unit converts the data format of the contents. A contents transmission unit(240) transmits the converted contents to a DMR(300), and a contents reception unit(320) transfers the transmitted contents to a rendering control unit(330).
