The frame (1) has a locking device (3) for locking the frame on a body shell (2) of a vehicle and including a locking and unlocking mechanism (4) for permitting locking and unlocking of the device. The device has an external part (8) projecting from the frame and having an orifice (9) permitting access to the mechanism. Closure units partially close the orifice from exterior of the vehicle when the frame is folded in a closed position and are formed by a boss (13) constituting an obstacle on an introduction line of a hooking rod (11) in the orifice when the frame is in the closed position. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting an opening frame on a body shell of a vehicle.
