PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for facilitating installation of driver to a specific information processing apparatus that requires the driver for controlling a peripheral device.SOLUTION: A PC starts an infrared communication session, to transmit a PC ID to a printer. Upon receiving the PC ID, the printer identifies the PC to be connected and transmits a printer ID in response thereto. The printer then transmits a printer model name to the PC. Upon receiving the model name, the PC determines whether there is driver corresponding to a printer of the model name, and transmits the determination to the printer. If the PC determines that the PC does not have the driver for the printer, the printer transmits the driver or information necessary to acquire the driver from the outside (such as URL), to the PC. The PC installs the driver thus acquired. |
