Provided are a novel catalyst for sterilizing contact lenses with which the state of action of the catalyst can be easily checked when contact lenses are sterilized using aqueous hydrogen peroxide, and an apparatus and method using same. The catalyst (14) for sterilizing the contact lenses which have been immersed in aqueous hydrogen peroxide (44) in a container (10) for sterilizing contact lenses is displaced by the buoyancy caused by the oxygen bubbles produced in the degradation reaction of the aqueous hydrogen peroxide (44), and after the degradation reaction of the aqueous hydrogen peroxide (44), the buoyancy caused by the oxygen bubbles is lost and this displacement is stopped.
