PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability in an internal combustion engine including a cam-less style drive device capable of opening and closing an intake valve and an exhaust valve with optional lift and optional timing not depending on rotation angle of a crankshaft without using a cam.SOLUTION: When starting the internal combustion engine (engine) 1, at least one of valves 4 of all cylinders are opened so slightly that the valve does not interfere with a piston in a combustion chamber. Consequently, load to a self-starting motor is reduced in start of the engine 1, rotation speed of the crankshaft is quickly raised, and time required for angle synchronization and oil pressure rise are shortened. Consequently, start time of the engine 1 is shortened and startability of the engine 1 is improved. Consequently, load of a battery is reduced. |
