PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter comprising aluminum titanate and having low coefficient of thermal expansion, high porosity, high strength and an excellent thermal shock resistance.SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter comprises aluminum titanate used by mixing columnar aluminum titanate having aspect ratio (=number average major axis diameter/number average short axis diameter) of ≥1.3 and granular aluminum titanate having aspect ratio (=number average major axis diameter/number average short axis diameter) of <1.3 in the weight ratio (the columnar aluminum titanate):(the granular aluminum titanate) of 95:5 to 60:40 wherein the number average major axis diameter of the granular aluminum titanate is smaller than the number average short axis diameter of the columnar aluminum titanate. |
