PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer a broadcast frame or a multicast frame without pressing bands of an ATM-PON transmission system.SOLUTION: A station-side communication apparatus 101 assembles a data frame from ATM cells from subscriber-side communication apparatuses 1021-102n and learns a relationship of its transmission source address, a virtual path (VP) and a virtual channel (VC) and registers the data frame in an address management table which is possessed internally. The station-side communication apparatus 101 reads out a destination address of the data frame from a host device 104, such as a router, and retrieves the address management table, when any of VP, VC to be used for ATM cell transfer is determined. The address management table registers therein VPs, VCs set to point-to-multipoint for an efficient transfer of broadcast frames or multicast frames, and the frames are transferred to a plurality of subscriber-side communication apparatuses without generating a plurality of ATM cells. |
