The box blanks z are fed on to a table 1 under a former 2 which is lowered on to the blank at the position x; a gummed neck strip s is then fed against the front of the former and a bar 3 is moved through the table to fold the side r<1> of the blank against the gummed neck strip. A pivoted presser bar 13 is then actuated to hold the side r' and neck strip against the former which is moved along the table past grooved rollers 4, 5 which fold the strip s against the sides of the former. Further movement of the former past guides 9, 10 causes the sides r<2>, r<3> of the blank to be bent up against the sides of the neck strip. At the position y the former comes to rest and fingers 14, 15 are moved to bend in the ends of the neck strip against the back of the former and a bar 18 is moved through the table to bend up the side r<4> of the blank against the ends of the neck strip. The bar 13 is then moved to release the box which is stripped from the former 2, when the latter is raised, by the fingers 19, 20. |
