The present invention provides a method for overcoming the restrictions of a mobile terminal such as a mobile phone or others in which a display screen is small and a user input and output means is limited. The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a controlling method thereof for forming multiple virtual screens in a mobile terminal such as a mobile phone or others, and switching between the multiple virtual screens according to an intuitive operation of a user, thereby allowing the user to have a wider working space.
