PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an electric resistance welded tube excellent in weld zone properties by which electric power required to prevent the generation of weld defect on a thick-walled electric resistance welded tube is reduced.SOLUTION: As a method of producing the electric resistance welded tube by which a steel plate or a steel strip is formed into a tubular shape and resistance-welded, the method of producing a thick-walled electric resistance welded tube excellent in weld zone properties is provided and is characterized in that a groove is formed on the end faces of the side parts of the steel plate or the steel strip of ≥4.8 mm thick, while the groove is composed of circular-arc parts on both sides in the thickness direction and a linear part in the center in the thickness direction and the length of the linear part is ≤8% of the wall thickness. The groove may be semi-circular. In this way, the electric power for producing the electric resistance welded tube excellent in the property of the weld zone is reduced. |
