<p>In order to maintain consistency in the sense of perspective between each object in an image in the display of superimposed information on an image display device, a set-top box (200) transmits stereoscopic image data, which includes left-eye image data and right-eye image data, and a parallax information set, which includes parallax information that is the relationship of the left-eye image to the right-eye image, to external equipment (a television receiver, etc.) by means of an HDMI. When transmitting the parallax information set by means of the HDMI, (1) an HDMI vendor specific infoframe is used, or (2) the active space of a 3D video format in the frame packing method, or the like, is used. A first type of parallax information set includes a predetermined number of parallax vectors (the parallax information) and location information (a block ID) that indicates the location in an image region in which each parallax vector belongs.
