摘要 An object is a method of detecting changes in mitochondrial polarized state in a living cell. Changes in surface plasmon resonance angle resulting from changes in mitochondrial polarized state of the living cells are detected by use of a surface plasmon resonance device. Alternatively, one or plural agents are administered to the living cells, and changes in surface plasmon resonance angle resulting from changes in mitochondrial polarized state are detected. The step of detecting changes in surface plasmon resonance angle resulting from changes in mitochondrial polarized state can be realized by the step of detecting changes in surface plasmon resonance angle during a period in which the changes only result from changes in mitochondrial polarized state, and it is preferable that the changes be detected during a period that comes after a lapse of 20 minutes or longer after the agent(s) was administered, preferably after a lapse of 30 minutes or longer, more preferably after a lapse of 35 minutes or longer.
