PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor capable of improving pixel characteristics without reducing characteristics of pixels, even when a number of pixels are microfabricated and formed for high definition, and to provide an operating method and apparatus capable of efficiently operating such an image sensor.SOLUTION: Pixels Gr and Gb are disposed adjacently in a lateral direction such that dimensions of the pixels Gr and Gb in a longitudinal direction become twice as large as the dimensions in the lateral direction. A green color filter is used in common for the pixels Gr and Gb. Charge take-out wiring is formed at such a position as not to close openings of the pixels Gr and Gb.
