<p>A connector includes a shield that supports a housing. The housing includes a tongue that extends in a mating region defined by the shield. The tongue includes grooves (which may be on both sides of the shield) that support a plurality of terminals. The grooves each include a retention feature that secures the terminal in the groove while allowing a mating terminal to engage the terminals in the grooves without first engage the tongue.</p>
