[Class 12 (i).] A self-aligning roller bearing has a convexly curved inner race 2, two spaced sets of taper rollers 3, the middle portions of which are curved concavely, conical outer race rings 10 engaged by the conical ends of the rollers 3, and thrust ribs 12 engaging the large ends of the rollers. The thrust ribs 12 are provided on a ring 11 interposed between the outer race rings 10, the rings 10, 11 being held together by a sleeve 13. The centre of curvature 7 of the inner race 2 is preferably located on the bearing axis 8, and the radius of curvature 5 of the race 2 is slightly less than that of the central portion 4 of the rollers 3 so that the rollers 3 make point contact with the inner race.</p> |
