PURPOSE: An image processing method and an image processing apparatus are provided to make an image or image series to which a change of contrast is reflected from the entire image by stabilizing an image in a main monitoring area. CONSTITUTION: A gradation conversion curve calculating unit(202) calculates a gradation conversion curve for gradation conversion of a processed X-ray image. A reference area extracting unit(203) extracts a reference area. A gradation conversion curve combining unit(204) combines a gradation conversion curve of a previous frame with a gradation conversion curve of a current frame. A gradation conversion curve preserving unit(205) preserves the combined gradation conversion curve. A gradation conversion unit(206) performs gradation conversion for the X-ray image.
