The invention relates to water supply, in particular to using non-traditional sources of fresh water, more particular to iceberg melt water and provides technology for transporting thereof aimed at producing drinking water The invention makes it possible to minimize the irretrievable losses of the mass of the transported iceberg, increase the volume of the useful water produced therefrom and respect the requirements of ecological standards. For packing waterproof layers 2, 3 of a shell material 1 comprise a stiffening reinforcement 4, wherein the shell 1 embodied adapted to thermal conditioning of iceberg 6. For packing over-water iceberg 6 surface the upper part of the double-walled shell comprises a two-sided mirror-like reflective coating 7. The inner surfaces of the layers of the shell material are matt black and have a radiation efficiency r (λ, T) close to that of a perfect black body. The shell for the underwater part of the iceberg is made up of one layer and the material thereof is provided with a two-sided reflective mirror coating 7. The shell is provided with waterproof locking connecting devices 12, mounted so as to provide the required shell shape and size depending on iceberg overall dimensions. The method involves the above-water and underwater inspection of the selected iceberg and the thermal conditioning thereof by hermetically packing said iceberg in the shell 1. At its final destination, the iceberg is placed in a lock 16, the outer layer of the shell 1 is removed from the above-water part of the iceberg and the matt black surface of the shell inner layer is removed providing optimum regime of the iceberg mass melting. The thus produced fresh melt water is delivered by pumps from the lock to consumers via a water duct. |
