The method for the production of a metallic component for a motor vehicle, comprises coating the component through the treatment with a zinc powder mixture at 300-600[deg] C with a zinc diffusion layer (14), where the component is coated areawisely with a light-emitting lacquer. The light-emitting lacquer is fluorescent, phosphorescent or opalescent lacquer. The different component areas are coated with different lacquers. The light-emitting lacquer is directly applied on the zinc diffusion layer.
