The present invention discloses a method for video call establishment. The method comprises the following steps: A video replacement server receives a video call request sent from a first terminal; the video replacement server establishes a meeting connection with a media server according to the video call request; the video replacement server sends the call request to a second terminal; the second terminal establishes a meeting connection with the first terminal according to the call request. The present invention enables video replacement by such a manner that, according to the replacement instruction input by a terminal, the video replacement server controls the media server to play a predetermined video file for the terminal in the process of a video call. The requirement that the user does not want the video in his side to be seen by the other side is satisfied.
