The invention relates to a method and apparatus for establishing a connection between relay nodes and network nodes. The method comprises: sending connection establishment request message to the selected network nodes to be connected, wherein the connection establishment request message comprises the node type of the node itself and/or the type of the connection; receiving the connection establishment response message sent by the network nodes to be connected. With the technical solution of the invention, not only the relay nodes can be enabled to automatically establish connections with Donor-eNBs (evolved NodeB), to establish the radio X2 interface, to perform directly information interaction with the other network nodes and to decrease the time delay of the information interaction, but also the network can be enabled to involve the capability of self-configuration and self-optimization, therefore the performance of the network is improved.
