An oligomerised dye compound, and salts thereof, obtainable by a process which comprises reacting a compound of Formula (1) and salts thereof with a compound of Formula (2) and salts thereof wherein: R1 and R2 are independently H, optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted heteroaryl; R3 is optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted heteroaryl; X and Y are independently a substituent; a + b = 0 to 4; n = 1 to6; 15 L-(NH2) Formula (2) wherein: L comprises an optionally substituted, or optionally interrupted,aliphatic group,an optionally substituted aromatic group or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group; and m is 2 to 4.
