PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial gas barrier film capable of being formed easily at a low cost and excellent in transparency and flexibility. SOLUTION: In the gas barrier film having a layer obtained by implanting an ion in a layer containing an antibacterial material and a silicon-based compound, the antibacterial material is an inorganic antibacterial agent and contains silver or a silver ion. The silver content of the layer containing the antibacterial material and the silicon-based compound is 1 to 100 PPM by weight. The method for forming the gas barrier film is also provided.
