PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle capable of preventing the generation of abnormal sound when readjusting a seat back into another angle after adjusting the seat back into one angle and long time has passed. SOLUTION: A lubricant held in a holding groove is fed to the contact peripheral faces of first and second wedge members in a short time even when operating the seat reclining apparatus for the vehicle after the friction contact state of the first and second wedge members has been held in high face pressure state for a long time because the holding groove 75 holding the lubricant G is arranged in the contact peripheral face 70a of the first and second wedge members 7a, 7b. Consequently, the generation of abnormal sound can surely be prevented because the first and second wedge members can be pushed and moved directly after operating the seat reclining apparatus for the vehicle while reducing static friction force generated the contact peripheral faces of the first and second wedge members.
