A pipe coupling has a coupling body (5) having a passage opening, as well as an outer sleeve (6) , which is arranged partially around the coupling body, these two parts together forming a chamber for accommodating a pipe end. The chamber (8) has an insertion opening (10) for the relevant pipe end at the axially outer end in the outer sleeve, and has stop means (9) for limiting the insertion length of the pipe end into the coupling at the axially inner end in the coupling body. The pipe coupling also has a tubular core part (4) which is designed to be accommodated in a pipe end. Outer sleeve 6 has a tapering inner surface so that sleeve 6 is moved in the direction of pipe insertion it interacts with flexible lips of outer grip ring which are circumferentially spaced apart so that an inserted pipe is gripped more strongly about its outer side.
