LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING LED BACKLIGHT AND METHOD FOR LOCAL DIMMING THEREOF

PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus using a light emitting diode back light and a method for driving a screen splitting process are provided to improve a contrast ratio and an image echo phenomenon by analyzing an image signal and driving the light emitting diode back light depends of light guiding panels. CONSTITUTION: A light guiding panel(20) uniformly transfers light from a light emitting diode chip(10) uniformly to the front surface of a liquid crystal display. A light emitting diode back light generates light. The light emitting diode backlight is driven based on regions of a split light guiding panel. A reflective panel(40) concentrates the light to a liquid crystal display cell. A light diffusing panel(30) diffuses light through the light guiding panel.
