PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can be switched to an image mute state without including an exclusive key. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes an image input-selecting part 31 for selecting any one out of a plurality of image input terminals 30a based on the prescribed input operation, a first signal detecting parts (image input-selecting part 31, image signal detecting part 32, control part 20) detecting whether an image signal is inputted to any of image input terminals other than one image input terminal selected by the image input-selecting part 31 or not, and a control part 20 for switching an image projection state in which projection of the image is performed or an image mute state in which projection of the image is stopped. In the image projection state in which the image is projected based on the image signal inputted to one image input terminal, when it is detected by the first signal detecting part that the image signal is not inputted to any of the other image input terminal and the prescribed input operation is performed, the control part 20 switches the state to the image mute state.
