PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of confirming contact states and a contact state confirming device reproducing a contact state of a confirming object used actually and allowing observation of a reproduced contact state in details and clearly. SOLUTION: In the method of confirming a contact state, an confirming object 1 having a first refractive index is made to contact a prism 2 having a second refractive index to confirm a contact state between the confirming object 1 and the prism 2. In the method of confirming a contact state, light is emitted toward the confirming object 1 through the prism 2, the irradiation light is made to impinge on a contact surface where the confirming object 1 contacts the prism 2 at a prescribed angle within a range of 10-30°, the sum of the optical path length of the irradiation light and that of reflection light reflected on the contact surface is set to not more than 15 mm in the prism 2, and the contact state between the confirming object 1 and the prism 2 is confirmed, based on light and shade generated in the reflection light.
