<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of stopping an indirect internal reforming solid oxide fuel cell, which allows reliable reforming and prevention of oxidative degradation of the anode. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: measuring the reforming catalyst layer temperature T while the anode temperature is an oxidative degradation point or higher, and comparing T with TrE; If T≥TrE, (C1) measuring the reforming catalyst layer temperature T and comparing T with TrE; (C2) If T≤TrE in C1, setting the flow rate for supplying fuel to the reformer to FkE and go to D; (C3) If T>TrE in C1, calculating the fuel flow rate FkMinCALC which allows generation of reformed gas with flow rate of FrMin at T measured in C2 in the reformer and comparing with FkE; (C4) If FkMinCALC<FkE in C3, setting to FkMinCALC the flow rate for supplying fuel to the reformer and returning to Cl; (C5) If FkMinCALC≥FkE in C3, setting the flow rate for supplying fuel to the reformer to FkE and go to D; and (D) waiting until the anode temperature falls below the oxidative degradation point.
