The arrangement has a water-collecting unit (11) in which flowing water is collected, and a pumping device for pumping the water from the water-collecting unit. A piston-cylinder unit (21) designed as the pumping device is attached to the water-collecting unit. A piston (37) is axially movable within a cylinder (36), so that the water is pumped into an opening (38) by the movement of the piston. The opening is provided in a wall of the cylinder. The piston is provided with telescopically movable segments. An independent claim is also included for a method for generating electrical energy from hydraulic power.
