METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REALIZING AUTHENTICATION OF MULTICAST MEMBERS

A method and a system for realizing authentication of multicast members are multicast technology. The method involves sending an Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) Version 3 (v3) message that carries the authentication information of multicast members to a router by a host to request to join a multicast group. After the router receives the IGMPv3 messages, the router obtains the authentication information of multicast members. A host machine customer is authenticated according to the authentication information of multicast members, and successful or failed authentication information is sent back to the host. The method and the system greatly ensure the safety of the multicast, realize authentication of specific multicast members, prevent Denial of Service (DoS) and replay attacks, and reduce network traffic when the method and the system utilize current popular IGMP protocol to manage the multicast members.
