METHOD FOR TRANSMISSION OF DATA OVER A COMMUNICATIONS CHANNEL

The invention concerns a method for transmission of data over a communications channel in a communications system using Hybrid Automatic Retransmission Request (HARQ), comprising for a first transmission procedure: - encoding data as data symbols in C codewords, Ol, - mapping the data symbols of the C codewords on resource elements in a data symbol pattern in L layers, - transmitting the L layers over the communication channel, and for a subsequent HARQ retransmission procedure: - retransmitting a subset C'<C of said codewords over the communications channel using the procedure of the first transmission, wherein the procedure for HARQ retransmission is amended such that data symbols of the C codewords are mapped to a same number of resource elements used for data symbol transmission in said first transmission. The invention also concerns a mobile terminal and a radio basestation for a mobile telecommunications system.
