The invention relates to an arrangement for locking a battery (14) in a motor vehicle (10), comprising: a recess (12) for the vehicle having a main vertical axis and in which the battery (14) is inserted in a vertical mounting direction (M) oriented upward; and at least one bolt (36) that is mobile between a stowed position in which the battery (14) is free to slide in the recess (12) along the mounting direction (M), and a deployed position in which the bolt (36) blocks the battery (14) in the mounted position in the recess (12); characterized in that the bolt (36) is rigidly connected to the battery (14) while moving along the mounting direction (M), and in that the bolt (36) comprises a free end (40) engaging with a main vertical orientation lug (42) supported by a structural element (24) of the vehicle (10) when the bolt (36) is in the deployed position in order to block said battery (14).
