<p>A variable-compression-ratio internal combustion engine which comprises at least two blocks (2, 3, and 22) coupled to move relative to each other, and is provided with an input gear (11) for inputting rotation to cam shafts (6, 7) for driving an intake/exhaust valve arranged in one block (2, 3), and which an output gear (8) for outputting the rotation of a crankshaft (4) arranged in the other block (22), wherein the input gear or the output gear and a rotation transmission shaft (5) are constituted to be able to slide on each other in such a direction that one block moves relative to the other block so that meshing between the cam shaft-side gear (10) of the rotation transmission shaft for transmitting the rotation of the output gear to the input gear and the input gear, or meshing between the crankshaft-side gear (9) of the rotation transmission shaft and the output gear is maintained when one block is moved relative to the other block.</p> |
