The invention relates to a button cell having a housing made of two metal housing halves, an electrode separator assembly in the form of a preferably spiral-shaped winding within the housing and metal conductors electrically connecting the electrodes of the assembly to the housing halves, wherein at least one of the conductors is connected to the corresponding housing half by welding. The invention further relates to a method by means of which such a button cell can be produced. According to said method, the welding of the at least one conductor to the corresponding housing half takes place after assembling the housing.
