Provided is a vehicular shift control device for controlling the input rotating speed of a stepped transmission by adjusting the rotating speed of a power source at a downshift of the stepped transmission. The changing gradient of the input rotating speed of the stepped transmission is made the smaller for the higher deceleration of the vehicle. No matter how large the reduction ratio of a synchronized rotating speed after shift might be, the incidence angle ? of the input rotating speed of the stepped transmission to the synchronous rotating speed after shift is kept obtuse, so that the downshift is made smooth without any excessive synchronization shock even when the deceleration of the vehicle during the downshift is high.
