<p>The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the quality of at least one IP connection between a mobile device (10) and a server (80) connected to a public IP based communication network (70), wherein the IP connection runs partly over a radio connection of a mobile radio network (50, 60). The aim of the invention is to determine quality parameters, permitting a description the quality of the IP connection, without affecting the transmission of IP data packets from the user (30, 35). Said aim is achieved wherein the User Datagram Protocol of layer 4 and a special tunneling software (44, 85) are implemented in the mobile device (10) and in the server (80), which determine the packet loss and the maximum bitrate for the IP connection in addition to the round trip time.</p> |
