<p>Thermoplastic polyamide molding composition comprises: (a) at least one thermoplastic polyamide (10-99 wt.%); (b) a fire retardant (1-40 wt.%) comprising at least one phosphonate compound (I); and (c) further additives (0-70 wt.%), where the sum of the weights of the components (a) to (c) amounts to 100. Thermoplastic polyamide molding composition comprises: (a) at least one thermoplastic polyamide (10-99 wt.%); (b) a fire retardant (1-40 wt.%) comprising at least one phosphonate compound of formula (I); and (c) further additives (0-70 wt.%), where the sum of the weights of the components (a) to (c) amounts to 100. A 1>, A 2> : 1-4C alkyl, benzyl, phenyl or naphthyl (all are optionally substituted). Independent claims are also included for: (1) fibers, films and moldings obtainable from the thermoplastic molding composition; and (2) producing the thermoplastic molding composition, comprising mixing the thermoplastic polyamide with the flame retardant.
