PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS (in-plane switching) liquid crystal display, in which the number of luminescent spot pixel defects occurring on the display is reduced, without reducing an opening ratio of the IPS liquid crystal display, and to provide a method for reducing the number of luminescent spot pixel defects.
SOLUTION: The IPS liquid crystal display has a pixel formed by being surrounded by a first common electrode on an insulating substrate. The pixel includes a CS (capacitance storage) electrode formed by being connected to the first common electrode, a second common electrode extending into the inside of a pixel region from the first common electrode, a pad electrode formed so as to be opposite to the CS electrode, a pixel electrode connected thereto and extending across the second common electrode, a repair line having an opening part and a connection part and connected to the pad electrode via the connection part, and a switching element of which the drain electrode or the source electrode is connected to the opening part of the repair line. The repair line is formed in parallel with the pixel electrode, wherein the opening part faces the pixel electrode, and the connection part is connected to the pad electrode without facing the pixel electrode.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
