The device has an air intake conduit divided into two parts having a filling part (12b) obturated by an obturation unit (16) i.e. flap. The filling part has a circular/ellipsoidal shaped section to minimize leakage at a level of the obturation unit when the obturation unit is closed. A swirl part (12a) of the intake conduit has a rectangular section. An internal separation wall (15) extends over entire length of the intake conduit. An independent claim is also included for an air intake method for a cylinder of a combustion engine.
