PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smooth a transfer rate without using information on physical format of an HDD, thereby increasing a minimum transfer rate. SOLUTION: A controller 23 identifies the number of sectors per one virtual track in one virtual HDD based on a preset parameter and the number of sectors assigned to each area where HDDs 3-1 and 3-2 are paired, and sets a conversion rule between virtual addresses and LBAs of the HDDs 3-1 and 3-2. And the controller 23 sets a virtual address for each data corresponding to the number of sectors per one virtual track, converts the virtual addresses into LBAs of the HDDs 3-1 and 3-2 based on the conversion rule, and records data into the HDDs 3-1 and 3-2 simultaneously. As a result, a rate at which data is recorded into the HDDs 3-1 and 3-2 is smoothed, thereby increasing the minimum transfer rate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
