PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of large abnormal sound by contact of a slider with an opening part provided in a rack bar and imparting of excessive resisting force due to displacement of the rack bar caused by rotation of the rack bar by external force, in a center take-off type steering device. SOLUTION: The sliding device includes a sliding member 41 connecting inside ends of a pair of right and left tie rods to an axial direction center part of the rack bar, displacing in a right and left direction integrally with the rack bar, and oscillating the pair of tie rods, to steer right and left front wheels to right and left sides. A rack bar housing 22 includes the opening part 22c to allow the displacement of the sliding member 41 in a right and left direction. Sliding surfaces 22c1 and 22c2 of the opening part 22c and sliding surfaces 41c and 41d of the sliding member 41 are inclined to a center line L0 of the rack bar in a neutral state and are formed in parallel with a center line L1 in a moving range of the rack bar by external force, respectively.
