PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for optimally coping with the occurrence of a situation where data cannot be stored in a memory during a shift period of a first processing part. SOLUTION: A printer includes a main CPU, a sub-CPU and a RAM. The sub-CPU stores a received packet during the shift period from a non-sleep state of the main CPU to a sleep state. When a first kind of packet and a second kind of packet are already stored in the RAM when the free space of the RAM is not sufficient to store a newly received packet during the shift period (Yes in S84), the sub-CPU deletes the second kind of packet from the RAM (S92) and stores the received packet in the RAM (S94).
