PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting structure and a vibration damping structure which stably support an upper structure from a lower portion even if normal at a portion supporting the upper structure on a supporting surface points toward a predetermined place of the lower portion of center of gravity of the upper structure. SOLUTION: The connecting structures 4a, 4b are provided between the upper structure 2 and lower structure 3 which is provided on the lower portion of the upper structure and supports the upper structure. In a vertical plane S1 which contains the center of gravity G of the upper structure, the connecting structures are provided with a pair of support portions 7a, 7b which are provided on an upper portion of the lower structure and are symmetrically disposed with respect to a vertical line L1 containing the center of gravity of the upper structure, and a pair of support surfaces 8a, 8b which are provided on a lower portion of the upper structure and are symmetrically disposed with respect to the vertical line and at the same time are disposed so as to be spaced apart from each other while approaching the upper portion.
