PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for continuous casting capable of achieving further improvement of abrasion resistance, capable of improving corrosion resistance, being excellent in durability, and capable of achieving prolongation of life. SOLUTION: The mold for continuous casting has a cooling member 10 for forming a vertically penetrated space part and manufactures a cast slab by supplying molten steel to the space part and cooling it. A part or all of the surface at a molten steel contact surface side of the cooling member 10 is covered with a cobalt composite plating layer 11 in which hard particles composed of one or more of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, SiO<SB>2</SB>, SiC, WC, and CrC are dispersed in an amount of 0.1 to 30 mass%.
