401,463. Gas producers. JOHNSON, J. Y., 47, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.- (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges. ; Frankfort-on-Main, Germany.) Sept. 1, 1932, No. 24396.' [Class 55 (i).] Finely grained moist fuel is gasified in a gas producer in which the fuel is kept by the blast gases, in a movement similar to that of a boiling liquid, the fuel being dried before being fed into the layer of glowing fuel by being caused to slide continuously over a sloped slide or slides, flushed by the hot gases leaving the producer. A gas producer A, operating in the manner described in Specification .214,544, [Class 55 (i), Coking &c.], is fed from a bunker D with fuel which slides over the sloping surfaces F, G of a chamotte spiral inclined at about 45‹ to the horizontal. Air is blown in through a chamber C below the grate R, and the gases pass out by pipe X. In one modification, the spiral is housed in a dust separator which is adjacent to the fuel container, and through which the hot gases pass, and in another modification the moist, fuel passes through a long sloping pipe in which it is dried by the outgoing gases.
