<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming technique by which electronic data including a lot of character objects and graphics objects can be rendered at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a generation unit which generates a display list containing edge information that shows an outline of the object included in the received electronic data, fill information that controls whether or not to fill in the inside of the outline, and control information for controlling image formation of each page that constitutes the electronic data; an edge position extraction unit which obtains intersections of the object and one line on the basis of the edge information and extracts positions of edges of the object when the object in the page is rendered line by line; and a setting unit which sets a threshold for controlling extraction of the edges by the edge position extraction unit within the range of a predetermined data amount on the basis of data amount of the extracted edges and data amount of the edges in the page predicted by analysis of the control information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
