PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a learning based perfect tracking control method (learning based perfect tracking control: LPTC) by which a target track tracking error is suppressed by adding a tracking error occurring when a nominal model includes a real plant and a modeling error to the target track and redesigning the target track. SOLUTION: A device and a method for controlling a magnetic disk device are provided which perform control by a learning based perfect tracking control method. The device includes: a perfect tracking controller to perform multi-rate feed forward control; and a learning signal generator to learn the tracking error about the target track from an output signal in seeking control, and to generate a target track compensation signal for redesigning a new target track.
