PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission apparatus and data transmission method, in which the large-capacity data transmission can be performed without influencing a control cycle. SOLUTION: A data transmission apparatus includes: processing executing sections 11, 134 and 144 for applying predetermined processing to acquired data to transmit the data as communication data; dividing sections 134 and 144 for dividing processing, with respect to data of low priority in comparison with data of high priority to be transmitted, into a plurality of blocks; and priority control sections 133 and 143 for processing the data of high priority, prior to a block to be processed after the block on which processing is being performed by the processing executing section, in the case where the data of high priority are acquired during the processing with respect to the data of low priority by the processing executing section.
