PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device which can be transferred into an ejection operation in an accurately stopped state of a disk even upon focus-off or tracking-off. SOLUTION: The disk device includes a calculation part measuring a compulsive acceleration time of a spindle motor from a start of the servo of an optical pickup to completion of automatic adjustment of focus and tracking and calculating a brake control time of the spindle motor from the compulsive acceleration time and a brake control part applying a brake voltage to the spindle motor in a period in which the brake control time passes upon focus-off of the optical pickup, detecting information read out by the optical pickup to brake the spindle motor upon focus-on and applying a brake voltage in a period in which the brake control time passes when a braking period is shorter than the braking control time when the spindle motor is stopped.
